  70. INSTALLING SALESEYE

  73.                              FLOPPY DISK SYSTEMS

  75. These instructions assume that your floppy drives are called Drives A: and B:
  76.  
  77. 1.   Boot your computer and leave your DOS disk in Drive A:
  78.  
  79. 2.   Insert the disk that contains the SALESEYE Program (ie files that
  80.      came from SALESEYE.ARC on GEnie) in Drive B: and copy a file named
  81.      CONFIG.SYS from it to your DOS disk by entering...
  82.  
  83.      Enter...  COPY  B:CONFIG.SYS  A:
  84.  
  85. 3.   Re-boot your computer.  This step is very important!
  86.  
  87. 4.   Make a backup copy of the Program Disk (ie the disk in Drive B:).
  88.  
  89. 5.   Put your backup copy of the Program Disk in Drive A:
  90.  
  91. 6.   Delete the INSTALL.TXT from the Program Disk.  This is important!!
  92.  
  93.      Enter...   DEL  A:INSTALL.TXT
  94.  
  95. 7.   Insert a blank (freshly formatted) diskette in Drive B:
  96.  
  97. 8.   Enter...   A:
  98.                 SELL

  100. 9.   The SALESEYE logo will appear and you will be asked to enter today's date.
  101.      Just press the 'Return' (ie <cr>) key.
  102.  
  103. 10.  You should now tell SALESEYE the drive you want to have your Data Disk in.
  104.      Type in the letter 'B'.  Then enter a 'D' for Done on the horizontal menu
  105.      line.

  107. 11.  A new screen will appear that gives you some information about
  108.      initializing Data Disks.  You should enter 'I' for Initialize.
  109.  
  110. 12.  SALESEYE will now copy and/or create certain files that must be present
  111.      for the program to run onto your Data Disk.

  113. 13.  SALESEYE will tell you when it is finished initializing.  After striking
  114.      any key, the MAIN MENU should appear on your screen.

  116. This start-up process only has to be done when you use SALESEYE for the first
  117. time.  To run SALESEYE from now on, simply boot your computer with the DOS disk
  118. that has the CONFIG.SYS file on it, insert the Program Disk in Drive A: and the
  119. Data Disk in Drive B:, and type SELL.

  137.                                HARD DISK SYSTEMS

  140. These instructions assume that your hard drive is Drive C: and your floppy
  141. drive is Drive A:
  142.  
  143. 1.   Insert the disk that contains the SALESEYE Program (ie files that
  144.      came from SALESEYE.ARC on GEnie) in Drive A:
  145.  
  146. 2.  Make sure you are at the root directory of your hard disk:
  147.  
  148.     Enter...   C:
  149.                CD \
  150.  
  151. 3.  Check to see if a file named CONFIG.SYS is stored on the root directory:
  152.  
  153.     Enter...   TYPE  CONFIG.SYS
  154.  
  155.     If a message like 'FILE NOT FOUND' appears (ie the CONFIG.SYS file does not
  156.     exist on the root), enter the following command...
  157.  
  158.     Enter...   COPY  A:CONFIG.SYS  C:
  159.  
  160.     If something appeared on your screen when you TYPEd the CONFIG.SYS file,
  161.     study what was displayed.  If one of the lines displayed was 'FILES=n'
  162.     where n is greater than or equal to 20, go to Step 4.
  163.  
  164.     If 'FILES=20' or greater does not appear, you must add a new line
  165.     containing the command 'FILES=20' to the CONFIG.SYS file.  You can do
  166.     this using a word processor.
  167.  
  168. 4.  Re-boot your computer by pressing the 'Ctrl', 'Alt', and 'Del' keys
  169.     simultaneously.  Don't forget to open the door on your floppy drive before
  170.     re-booting and to close it again after the computer is booted.

  172. 5.  Make a new subdirectory named SE (or anything you want) for the program:

  174.     Enter...   MD  \SE
  175.  
  176. 6.  Move to this new subdirectory:
  177.  
  178.     Enter...   CD  \SE
  179.  
  180. 7.  Copy the contents of the SALESEYE Program Disk to this new subdirectory:

  182.     Enter...   COPY  A:*.*  C:
  183.  
  184.     You may now put your SALESEYE Disk away in a safe place.

  188.     Enter...   SELL

  226. If you downloaded a file named SETUTOR.ARC from GEnie, copy QUAL7.DBF,
  227. QUAL7.NDX, TICKLERS.TIK, TICKLERS.TDX and SAMPLE.* to your Data Disk or \SE
  228. subdirectory.  Then use the Word Processor in SALESEYE to view and print the
  229. tutorial lessons.
